Sente Recognized for Leadership in Legislature

“I am deeply humbled to have been selected as an Edgar Fellow,” said Sente. “Yet I never forget that the greatest award bestowed onto me is the opportunity to represent my residents in Springfield. I have met so many strong, gifted and wonderful people from all walks of life during my time as a state representative. It has made me a stronger fighter in Springfield for our shared priorities and values.”

The Edgar Fellows Program recruits and develops public servants from throughout Illinois. Edgar Fellows participate in a five-day training program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where they hone skills that will allow them to better facilitate bipartisan cooperation and address major policy issues without allowing partisan rivalries to overcome the greater interests of Illinois residents.

“It’s vital to Illinois’ future that we have leaders at the state and local level who work together to meet challenges by making regional and partisan differences secondary to solving problems,” said former Gov. Edgar. “My goal is for Edgar Fellows to understand the importance of Democrats and Republicans working together on some of our state’s toughest issues.”
