Sente and Community Partners Announce Spring Recycling Fair and Shred Event

VERNON HILLS, Ill. ̶̶̶ To help residents protect against identity theft and increase access to recycling opportunities, state Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, will be hosting a recycling fair and shred event on Saturday, June 20, from 9 a.m. to noon, in the southwest parking lot of Westfield Hawthorn Mall.

“Our event offers families an exciting way to take part in some necessary spring cleaning, while simultaneously disposing of a variety of household items in an environmentally friendly fashion,” Sente said. “Together, we as community partners are serving as a prime example of how different organizations, agencies and units of government can work together to provide beneficial services to area residents."

Sente will be hosting the event along with the Vernon Hills Park District, the Village of Vernon Hills, the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO), AT&T and Westfield Hawthorn Mall. In addition to taking advantage of free onsite document shredding, residents will be able to recycle clothing, textiles, shoes, eyeglasses, hearing aids, bicycles, bicycle parts, children's books and cell phones.
