Sente, Dold Lead Dialogue on Economic Development

- State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, and Congressman Bob Dold were featured in a roundtable dialogue focused on how to better attract, retain and grow businesses in the northern suburbs.

"It's important that elected officials on both side of the aisle work together to represent the needs of their constituents. Whether it is municipal leaders, county board members, state officials or federal officials, we are all in this together," Sente said. "It was wonderful to see so many members of our business community willing to invest in our region's future by contributing their time and insight to this important issue."

Sente and Dold joined the GLMV Chamber of Commerce at Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. in Vernon Hills, to talk with local business owners about the current business climate and how units of government can collaborate to encourage economic growth. Attendees from Monday's event expressed a profound interest in meeting regularly to continue the conversation and evaluate the group's success.

Earlier this year, Sente formed the Small Business Owner Caucus, which is composed of over 20 legislators from the Illinois House of Representatives who share similar entrepreneurial experiences. The overarching mission of the group is to create a robust economy through bipartisan advocacy and regular interactions with business leaders and organizations. Sente also has an economic development advisory committee which meets periodically throughout the year and is open to anyone who lives or works within House District 59.
