Sente and Local Business Leaders Convene for Economic Summit

VERNON HILLS, Ill. - State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, held an Economic Summit with Lake County Partners, the Illinois Small Business Advocacy Council and local business leaders on Monday morning. During the event, attendees heard an economic update from Sente; Mike Stevens, President and CEO of Lake County Partners; and Elliot Richardson, CEO of the Illinois Small Business Advocacy Council.

"It was interesting to hear from numerous stakeholders, including chamber of commerce representatives, business owners, municipal economic development directors and elected officials who contributed different perspectives on the current economic climate," Sente said. "One of the most common topics brought forward during our dialogue was that Illinois needs to remain competitive with neighboring states by implementing business-friendly policies and staying receptive to the business community's needs."

In the General Assembly, Sente is working to pass legislation to further enable entrepreneurs and business owners to succeed. House Bill 3429 implements intrastate equity crowdfunding, which would allow small businesses and startups to use the internet to solicit funds. House Bill 325 reduces fees associated with organizing and maintaining a limited liability company to a schedule comparable with larger corporations and other states.
